K6FB Monday Night Net

Each Monday evening at the close of this net we ask for a volunteer to be Net Control for the following week's net. This is valuable experience and it's easy! The first time may be a little intimidating; yet before you know it, you'll be a pro!

The script can be read verbatim or tailored to suit your tastes. The basic information should not change. Take a few minutes to read through the script before running the net to familiarize yourself with the words, the timing, the pauses, and so forth. Reading the net script cold for the first time, on air, can be a little frustrating.

In the net script below you will see these words bracketed: pause, copy, and acknowledge (ack). Here is what those words mean in the context of Net Control:

Pause
This is your cue to stop talking; release the Push To Talk button on your radio. This allows the repeater's time out timer to reset. Allow 4 to 10 seconds to elapse after the last traffic, this will allow any emergency traffic to access the repeater.

Copy
This is your cue to write call signs or record information.

Acknowledge or "Ack"
This is your cue to read back, or acknowledge, the calls that you heard during the Copy instruction.

At the end of the net your notes are yours to keep or discard. Did you learn from your experience? Do you feel more proficient? Did you have fun?

Net Scripts

Las Cumbres ARC Monday Night Net scripts have evolved over time. The format changed in 2004 to a new "Talk Format" script. However, the prior classic script is also available. Feel free to pick and choose components of either script to build your own net script. If you build a winner then please share it with your webmaster.
